On May 7, 2018, CfA filed a supplemental complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) against U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (R-ID) and Vicki Hart, the lobbyist owner of a Washington, D.C. condominium, for knowingly and willfully failing to disclose improper in-kind contributions in violation of the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) and FEC regulations.
On May 3, 2018, CfA asked the Senate Select Committee on Ethics and the Office of Congressional Ethics to investigate whether two senators and 12 representatives violated congressional rules and criminal law by accepting campaign contributions from the payday lending industry shortly before or after taking official actions in support of the industry’s priorities.
On April 24, 2018, CfA called on attorneys general in Arizona, Nevada, and New York to investigate rooftop solar companies with an emphasis on Vivint Solar.

On April 10, 2018, CfA filed a lawsuit in the District Court of Oklahoma County against Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter for failing to release communications between former Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt and United States Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) about the work of the Lead-Impacted Communities Relocation Trust (“LICRAT”) at the Tar Creek Superfund site northeastern Oklahoma.
On November 27, 2017, CfA filed a lawsuit in the District Court of Oklahoma County against Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter and Oklahoma State Auditor and Inspector Gary Jones for failing to release copies of audits and documents related to corruption allegations associated with the management of the Tar Creek Reclamation site in the state.
On March 22, 2018, CfA renewed its requests to attorneys general in California and Texas to investigate rooftop solar companies following a new lawsuit against Vivint Solar. On March 8, New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas initiated legal action against Vivint – alleging systematic fraud, deceptive business practices and racketeering –suggesting solar companies are continuing to violate state consumer protection laws more than a year after CfA first called for investigations.
On March 8, 2018, CfA asked the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence to refer Erik Prince to the Department of Justice for an investigation into whether he lied to the committee regarding his meeting with Russian fund manager Kirill Dmitriev.
On March 5, 2018, CfA called on the North Carolina State Ethics Commission to investigate whether Tim Moore, Speaker of the North Carolina General Assembly, violated state ethics law by pressuring officials at the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality to delay enforcing environmental laws on his company's property.
On March 1, 2018, CfA renewed its request to the Office of Congressional Ethics to investigate whether Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) and/or staff of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, acting at his direction violated House ethics rules by leaking confidential information, following a report in the New York Times that the committee leaked text messages between Senator Mark Warner and a Washington lawyer.
