On October 20, 2017, Campaign for Accountability asked the Inspector General at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to investigate whether Office of Refugee Resettlement Director Scott Lloyd broke federal law by abusing his position and government resources to prevent unaccompanied pregnant immigrant minors from having legal abortions and to coerce some into continuing their pregnancies against their will.

On October 18, 2017, Campaign for Accountability filed a lawsuit in federal court in Washington, D.C. against the Treasury Department to force the release of documents regarding Renaissance Technologies and its co-CEO, Robert Mercer.

Nine months after his inauguration, President Donald Trump's 58th Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) has provided no accounting of the amount of surplus funds left over and very little explanation as to how the committee has managed this surplus. On October 18, 2017, Campaign for Accountability joined 9 other civic groups and academics in sending a letter to Trump and his inaugural committee asking what happened to the leftover funds and calling for them to be given to the U.S. Treasury.

On October 11, 2017, Campaign for Accountability called on the Office of Government Ethics to investigate whether Secretary Ryan Zinke violated ethics rules that prohibit federal employees from endorsing private entities. Secretary Zinke’s endorsement appears on the website of a fundraising firm he used for his congressional campaigns.

On September 29, 2017, Campaign for Accountability called on the Office of Special Counsel and the Inspector General at the U.S. Department of Interior to investigate whether Secretary Ryan Zinke violated conflict of interest laws and the Hatch Act by speaking before the National Hockey League team the Vegas Golden Knights as part of his official duties.

On September 28, 2017, Campaign for Accountability called on Cole County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Richardson to investigate whether Paul Mouton, a political consultant for David Humphreys, should be charged with a criminal offense for violating Missouri lobbying laws.

On September 27, 2017, CfA signed a coalition letter calling for scrutiny of President Trump's FEC nominee, Trey Trainor.

On September 26, 2017, Campaign for Accountability filed a complaint with Travis County District Attorney Margaret Moore requesting an investigation into whether the Heidi Group, an anti-abortion nonprofit based in Texas, violated criminal law by misappropriating taxpayer funds. In addition, CfA filed a complaint against the group with the IRS.

Carol Everett founded the anti-abortion nonprofit, the Heidi Group, in 1995. Since starting the Heidi Group, Everett has regularly appeared in local and national media outlets to attack abortion rights, often making false or reprehensible statements.

On July 6, 2016, Campaign for Accountability called for a full accounting of the nearly one million dollars the Utah Commission for the Stewardship of Public Lands has spent to date to develop a lawsuit to compel the federal government to transfer national public lands to the state. On September 13, 2016, we requested that the Commission release the results of its internal review. On September 7, 2017, CfA called on the Commission to release all communications, documents, and invoices submitted by its law firm, Davillier Law Group, LLC.
