Norfolk and Hampton foster care programs have steered work to company with personal ties to city officials

"'Virginians need to have confidence that their public officials are working for what’s in the best interest of the public,' said Daniel Stevens, executive director of Campaign for Accountability, a nonpartisan government watchdog organization based in Washington, D.C. 'These situations should be investigated, and the city governments should put in place procedures to ensure that the work is awarded to the most qualified candidates, not the candidates with the best connections.'"

On December 5, 2019, CfA released the Themis Project’s Government Records Archive, containing more than 7,000 government documents consisting of tens of thousands of pages about anti-abortion advocacy organizations, crisis pregnancy centers, and government efforts to curtail reproductive rights.

Rep. Scott Plakon hid real estate holdings, ethics complaint alleges

"The complaint was filed by Dan Stevens, executive director of the Campaign for Accountability, with the Florida Commission on Ethics. It cited property records, court filings and other documents to show Plakon bought and sold several properties in Seminole, Lake and Volusia counties that never showed up on his annual financial disclosure forms."

Watchdog Applauds Michigan Governor for Terminating Contract with Anti-Choice Group Following CfA’s Complaints

On October 1, 2019, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued a line-item veto to terminate state funding for Real Alternatives (RA), an anti-abortion nonprofit organization that misused taxpayer dollars and failed to provide promised health services. RA will no longer receive state funding to run the Michigan Parenting and Pregnancy Support Program.
