Today, Campaign for Accountability (CfA) filed a complaint with the Inspector General of the Department of Veterans Affairs asking for an investigation into whether House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) unduly interfered in the award of a contract to build a new VA clinic within his district in Bakersfield, California.
"The Campaign for Accountability alleged that Nunes, chair of the House Intelligence Committee who represents Tulare and Fresno counties, may have violated federal law by leaving out information on his financial disclosure forms."

On July 11, 2018, CfA called on the Office of Congressional Ethics to investigate whether Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) violated federal law and House rules by failing to accurately disclose his investments in three California companies on his personal financial disclosures.
"In March, the attorney general of New Mexico filed a 17-count civil complaint against Vivint Solar that accused the company -- which sells and leases rooftop solar panels in California, New Mexico and other states – of fraud, racketeering and unfair business practices. California Attorney General Xavier Becerra would do well to follow New Mexico's lead."
On March 22, 2018, CfA renewed its requests to attorneys general in California and Texas to investigate rooftop solar companies following a new lawsuit against Vivint Solar.
On January 6, 2017, CfA called on the Department of Justice and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to investigate OneWest bank for using potentially illegal tactics to foreclose on as many as 80,000 California homes. Mr. Mnuchin, whom President-elect Trump has nominated for Secretary of the Department of the Treasury, previously served as the CEO of OneWest.
On November 17, 2016, CfA asked the California Attorney General to open an investigation into companies that offer residential solar panels. A review of consumer complaints filed with the California Public Utilities Commission – which lacks jurisdiction to resolve these complaints – reveals many of these companies have engaged in false and misleading acts in the marketing and sale or lease of solar panels, in apparent violation of California law.
