Watchdog Groups Sue HHS for Records Related to Agency Efforts to Stop Unaccompanied Immigrant Minors from Obtaining Abortions

On February 1, 2018, Equity Forward and Campaign for Accountability, represented by American Oversight, filed Freedom of Information Act lawsuits against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services seeking records from the Office of Refugee Resettlement regarding the efforts to prevent unaccompanied immigrant minors from exercising their constitutional right to abortion.

Campaign for Accountability Files Ethics Complaint Against House Intel Chair Nunes for Leaking Confidential Information

On January 25, 2018, CfA asked the Office of Congressional Ethics to investigate whether Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) and/or staff of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, acting at his direction, violated House ethics rules by leaking confidential information provided to the committee during the course of its investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

CfA Again Asks Court to Unseal Divorce Records of Andrew Puzder, Former Labor Secretary Nominee

Campaign for Accountability filed a new petition in the 21st Circuit Court in St. Louis County, Missouri asking the court to unseal the divorce records of Andrew Puzder, President Trump’s unsuccessful first nominee for Secretary of Labor. Press reports indicate the White House is again considering Puzder, who denied allegations that he abused his ex-wife, for a role in the Trump administration after he withdrew his name from consideration for Labor Secretary last year.

Government Watchdog Calls on Congress to Investigate OMB Director Mick Mulvaney for Violating Federal Law as Temporary CFPB Director

On November 29, 2017, Campaign for Accountability called on the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to investigate whether Office of Management and Budget ("OMB") Director Mick Mulvaney violated the Anti-deficiency Act by directing OMB staff to perform work for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
