Government Watchdog Files Complaint Against Interior Secretary for Possible Violations of Hatch Act, Conflict of Interest Laws

On September 29th, 2017, Campaign for Accountability called on the Office of Special Counsel and the Inspector General at the U.S. Department of Interior to investigate whether Secretary Ryan Zinke violated conflict of interest laws and the Hatch Act by speaking before the National Hockey League team the Vegas Golden Knights as part of his official duties.

Utah commission under scrutiny in push for lands control

"The Washington, D.C.-based Campaign for Accountability on Thursday called on the co-chairs of Utah’s Commission for the Stewardship of Public Lands to produce a full review of expenditures and accused the commission of allowing the $2 million set aside for the project to become 'a slush fund.' The group said its numerous public records requests have been denied."

CfA Calls on Utah Lands Commission to Disclose Interactions With Its Lawyers

On September 7, 2017, Campaign for Accountability called on the Utah Commission for the Stewardship of Public Lands to release all communications, documents, and invoices submitted by its law firm, Davillier Law Group, LLC. Press reports and public documents indicate the Commission has continued to work with Davillier, but the Commission has refused to release any documents or invoices prepared by the law firm.

The Guardian view on Google: overweening power

"Similarly, Google doesn’t have to ask the researchers whom it funds to write about public policy to turn in favourable articles. But it has funded, directly or indirectly, 329 such papers since 2005, according to the US-based Campaign for Accountability. More than a quarter of those funded directly by Google didn’t disclose the source of their money, according to the report."
