WASHINGTON, D.C. – Campaign for Accountability (CfA), a nonprofit watchdog group, which last month asked the New Jersey bar to investigate Interim US Attorney Alina Habba’s pattern of apparently violative conduct, issued a statement in response to a ruling today from a panel of federal judges replacing Ms. Habba in her role:

CfA Executive Director Michelle Kuppersmith said, “The judges’ decision today recognizes that Ms. Habba’s conduct disqualifies her from continued service in her role as US Attorney; but this should not be where accountability ends. CfA’s bar complaint against Ms. Habba remains outstanding and, absent a thorough investigation and appropriate consequences, nothing prevents her from repeating the sort of inappropriate conduct that led the judges to oust her.”

Campaign for Accountability is a nonpartisan, nonprofit watchdog organization that uses research, litigation, and aggressive communications to expose misconduct and malfeasance in public life and hold those who act at the expense of the public good accountable for their actions.
