Campaign for Accountability filed a Freedom of Information Act Request with the Consumer Financial Protection Board (CFPB) to follow up on a Seattle Times/ Center for Public Integrity investigation into predatory lending practices of Clayton Homes, one of the nation’s largest mobile home sellers.

On August 3rd, Campaign for Accountability joined a coalition of organizations committed to government openness and accountability, civil liberties, human rights, and civil rights, in calling on Congress to support legislation demanding greater transparency from private prisons that contract with the federal government.

Campaign for Accountability asked the Department of Justice to investigate whether Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin made criminal false statements by lying to Congress about conduct by OneWest, when Sec. Mnuchin was the bank’s CEO.

"The Senate Monday confirmed controversial lawyer David Bernhardt as deputy secretary of the Interior -- the number two executive in charge of managing natural resources. The vote passed 53-43."

"A nonprofit group, Campaign for Accountability, claims that Bernhardt continued to lobby for the Westlands Water District in California after withdrawing his registration as a lobbyist in November. In a letter to the Justice Department asking it to investigate the claim, the group claims Bernhardt edited a draft executive order for then President-elect Trump involving water issues that stood to benefit Westland Water."

"The Campaign for Accountability, a watchdog group, asked the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia on Thursday to investigate whether Bernhardt continued lobbying for a California water district even after withdrawing his lobbyist registration last year."

David Bernhardt, President Trump’s nominee for Deputy Secretary, continued to lobby for the Westlands Water District despite formally withdrawing his lobbying registration.
