Campaign for Accountability filed a Freedom of Information Act Request with the Consumer Financial Protection Board (CFPB) to follow up on a Seattle Times/ Center for Public Integrity investigation into predatory lending practices of Clayton Homes, one of the nation’s largest mobile home sellers.
On August 3rd, Campaign for Accountability joined a coalition of organizations committed to government openness and accountability, civil liberties, human rights, and civil rights, in calling on Congress to support legislation demanding greater transparency from private prisons that contract with the federal government.
Campaign for Accountability asked the Department of Justice to investigate whether Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin made criminal false statements by lying to Congress about conduct by OneWest, when Sec. Mnuchin was the bank’s CEO.
